Links for Scottish Sport Website
The www.scottishsport.co.uk website asked me if they could use
my page on the Game of Bowls on
their website. Their website is quite popular and dedicated
to all sports in Scotland. You can see their feature here. http://www.scottishsport.co.uk/othersports/bowlingtheobject.htm#top.
I have also started a new Vale of
Leven Links page with links
to local websites of interest. Please let me know about any local
sites that you would like to see featured.

New Website Content
The website continues to grow and it now has 31 pages.
Additional humour and jokes have been placed in the "Locker
Room" and further content added to many of the original
pages.
I have also added a Chic
Murray dedication page. A new
page that carries links
to many really funny video and audio downloads has
also been provided. These have nothing to do with bowling but
it's the close season and it's nice to have a wee laugh, intit?
A page on the Game of
Bowls has been added. This is not really intended for members
since most of you know how to play the game (you do don't you?).
It has been added as an introduction to bowling for novices and
people who don't know anything about our sport.
Maintenance of the bowling greens is not a subject
that many of us really have to get into but it is extremely important
if our greens are to remain amongst the top in the shire. I have
therefore created a Bowling
Green Maintenance page. Hopefully we
can develop this into a resource that is useful to all those who
are interested in the actual bowling green as opposed to players
of the game.
Finally, I have added a page on the trophies for
which we compete in the Dumbarton
Associated Bowling Clubs.
Note: Can I emphasise that your
comments on any of the website content would be really appreciated.
I am doing this on my own so I have no one to proof read it and
I would be grateful if you could let me know if you find
any typos, spelling mistakes or errors of any kind. Suggestions
for new content and contributions would also be welcomed.

Link with Pitchcare
We have now formed an alliance with Pitchcare,
a magazine website that specialises in the care and maintenance
of grass and grounds. They include a specialist bowling section
and have kindly consented to allow us to reproduce material from
their website. They will also be adding a link from their site
to ours. This will add more value to our website and ensure that we
attract more visitors.

Annual Supper (Press
Report)
The Annual Supper and Presentation of Prizes took place in the
Clubhouse on Friday 8th October. The events were chaired by
our president, Bryan Breckenridge and an excellent meal was
served once again by Venue Caterers. The toast to the Vale
of Leven Bowling Club was proposed in his own inimitable
manner by Ian Collins of the Rock Bowling Club who is also
President of the Alexandria Burns Club.

The actual presentation of prizes was ably
carried out by our Honorary President, John Nicolson, before
Jim McCarry, this year's worthy champion, replied on behalf of
the prizewinners. Members and guest were then entertained in
song and story by Wullie Kelly while a few "haufs" were disposed
of.

The Annual Supper and Presentation of Prizes has
been one of the main events in our calendar for many years. This
year a picture of the 1974 prize winners was unearthed by Alex
Shaw. I thought it would be interesting to include this.
