Note: I am unable to cover all events that take place in the club. This is why reporting in here is a bit hit or miss. I would be happy to upload reports and
images from other members who are willing to help with this. Please feel free to send me your contributions.

Junior Section
Legislation requires that we have at least two people in attendance to run the junior section. Currently Jack Bruce is the only one officiating. This puts the existence of the junior section under threat so we need volunteers as a matter of urgency. The club would be very grateful if one or more people could offer their services to assist with the juniors. No formal coaching certificate or experience is required so please consider helping out, especially if you are a parent of one of the juniors. If you are willing to help contact Jack Bruce as soon as possible.

We had a visit from a team from the Rock Bowling club last Friday night for the the return game of the annual games night, the format of which was pairs games in darts, pool and dominoes. The Rock started the stronger in the darts and pool but the Vale were ahead in the dominoes. The patter was good with the drinks flowing and the traditional half time pies being served to the players.
The Rock started to pull away in the second half of the night. With one game of darts left to play and two games of dominoes the Rock were 20 pts to 16 ahead. With 2 points for a win the Vale had to win the last three matches to complete an aggregate win as the first game away from home ended in a draw.
The Vale duly won the darts in a close encounter and Andy Robson and James Crichton won their dominoes match which completed a clean sweep for them on the night. This left Stevie Johnston and "captain courageous", Ian McDonald, needing to win the last game of doms to clinch it for the Vale. their task was accomplished in style when they won 3-0.
Friday the thirteenth had to be unlucky for someone and on this occasion it was the Cocos but a a big thanks must go to Jim Carruthers and his fellow members for helping to make it a great night (with their "ringer", Faldo, in fine form).

There has been quite a lot happening in the club lately but I have been very busy and unable to find the time to report on much of this. I would very much appreciate some help from the committee and members with regard to the provision of reports and material for the website. If anyone wants to help out let me know.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING POSTPONED DUE TO A LACK OF INTEREST
The Annual General Meeting had to be cancelled due to there being insufficient numbers turning up to form a quorum. This is sadly, a sign of a distinct lack of interest in the affairs of the club by many of the members. It is thought that this is the first time this has ever happened since the club was formed in 1867. It is has certainly never happened during the last 40 years.
Hopefully we will get enough when the meeting is reconvened but all members are asked to make every effort to attend. It's your club - let's see a large turnout of members and try to ensure that this does not happen again.
