Opening Day 2010

On Saturday 10th April in glorious sunshine our new club president, Kenny Crichton, welcomed a large gathering of members and invited guests for the 143rd opening of the bowling green. In recent years we have been quite lucky with the weather on the opening day and once again it was shirt sleeve order.

In his remarks Kenny thanked the members for the honour bestowed upon him and promised to maintain the good work of his predecessors. His wife Lorraine officially opened the greens by throwing the first bowls of the new season.

Lorraine wished the bowlers a successful season and hoped many trophies would be brought back to the Vale. All the ladies from the opening party were presented with our flowers from our beautiful flower girls Elisa and Julia Ward.

At this point the new members were introduced to the assembled company and presented with their welcome packs.

Thereafter members and invited guests enjoyed a short game of eight ends. The bar and clubhouse were extremely busy with many of the members and guests making a night of it after having been fed with an ample buffet. A great day was had by all!
