Two Bowl Pairs 2008

A successful internal, annual two bowl pairs competion for the Eddie Ritchie trophy was held on Sunday 13th July. Unlike last year's tournament the weather was terrific with bright sunshine for most of the day. Four sections each comprising 7 pairs played each other in a round robin, the top two in each section qualifying for the quarter finals. As usual the section games produced a lot of competition and skillful bowling.

In the semi finals Ian MacDonald and Ian Robb pipped George Nelson and Bryan Weir at an extra end while Irwin Barnes Jr. and Jim Anderson beat David MacIntyre and Jim Hughes.

In the final Ian MacDonald and Ian Robb looked to be dead and buried at 5 shots to 1 down but great play over two or three ends dragged them back into the game, which they eventually won by 6 shots to 5.

The late Eddie Ritchie presented this trophy a few years ago. His widow, Ruby, kindly agreed to present the prizes. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to Ruby.
